HOTWORX

I recently started working out at Hotworx in Coralville, and let me tell you. This place is kicking my butt! Hotworx is an infrared sauna that allows me to do classes at anytime! The app is super user friendly, and allows me to go in early before school, or at night after class! I can also do multiple classes a day! If you haven’t checked it out, come try a class with me!

Healthy Snacks

As a teacher, I’m always on the go. Between teaching 4 classes, planning with my teaching partner, going to the kids’ after school activities, and trying to keep my classroom clean and organized, there isn’t enough hours in the day. By the time I’m home, I’m ready to devour anything and everything. HOWEVER, I’ve found a few snacks to eat on the go!

  • Banana or apple with PB or almond butter
  • Celery with PB or AB
  • Fresh veggies with ranch
  • Quest bars! (High in protein- keeps you full!)
  • Plantain chips! (sweet or salty!)
  • Oatmeal with AB and cinnamon
  • Chomp sticks
  • Fresh fruit

The key is to have all your fruits and veggies cut, washed, and ready to eat! That makes it easy to grab and go! I always keep AB and ranch at school for when I have fruits or veggies to munch on!

What I eat in a Day

  • For breakfasts, I love hot oatmeal with almond butter, cinnamon and apple slices if I have them. Sometimes, if I wake up with a sweet tooth (I know I’m not alone!!) I’ll make waffles with whipped cream and berries!
  • Lunch I make in advance, so I simply have to pack it the night before. Typically, I do a protein (chicken or turkey burgers), raw, chopped veggies, ranch, and a fruit.
  • Dinners I also make in advance. I love roasting veggies, I’ve been really into steak strips, and adding quinoa for a source of energy!
  • I usually need a mid afternoon snack to get me through my after school activities- Quest Bars and fruit are always at hand. Quest bars are FULL of protein with minimal sugar and fruit gives the sweet taste that I crave.
WHOLE30

I’ve completed two rounds of whole 30, January 2019 and January 2020. This “cleanse” is grain, dairy, and processed sugar free. Not to mention, no alcohol. While some people would consider this a fad diet, what I like about this “cleanse” is that it resets my body. It cleanses the sugars and nasty things from my body and leaves me full of energy. It has done wonders for my skin as well! If you haven’t tried it, lets chat!

Fitness ‘Fits

Y’all. I’ll say it if you won’t. A new fresh gym outfit is the best form of MOTIVATION. Give me a cute sport bra, new leggings, or a new pair of tennis shoes and you can bet your ass I’m going to reach my goals. While I have a very unhealthy relationship with buying athleisure clothing, someone besides myself should benefit from it. Here are a few of my favs!

  • This cropped sports bra is one of my favorites. Target has this wonderful brand JoyLab; their style is fresh and fun! While this top is no longer available, they always have fresh looks for runs, yoga, or weight training! My leggings are from TJ Maxx, but are also sold on Amazon, they’re linked here. They’re so soft and allow me to stretch, sweat and run in!
  • I’m here to say that I never buy clothes full price. I found this Nike tank at GOODWILL. So while I can’t post a link to this tank, I can encourage y’all to wander the aisle of consignment stores!
  • Again, I solely buy workout clothes on sale! I recently stalked the Target sale rack and found this blue, Target, long sleeve on sale! It’s so soft and cozy!
  • Old Navy leggings are wonderful. They’re dry-wick and they suck you in! This pair is so cute with the zipper and color block!
